A family of three...well..maybe 2 and a 1/2

A couple of weeks ago, Chris decided to let me have a kitten! I've wanted a pet SO bad since we got married, but we can't have a dog because they're too big, and plus we're really not supposed to have pets at our apartment complex. Well, we'd seen plenty of apartments with cats sitting in the window, and so Chris (being the wonderful husband that he is) found an add in the paper for free kittens in the neighboring town, and surprised me and took me to go pick out our kitty!

I would like to introduce you to...(drum role please...) Iola!!! She's a tiny, sweet n' spicy little furball! From day one, she definately made herself at home. At first, she didn't like the feel of walking on carpet on her toes, so she would just bounce on the carpet with her feet as far apart as she could. Her favorite thing to play with is our feet. She will sneak up on them, crouch down, shake her little bum, and POUNCE! She's so ferocious! We've also noticed, that she refuses to sleep anywhere but right next to us. If we're up working on something, she'll complain to us until we sit down so she can cuddle up to us a doze off.

Chris at first wasn't such a big fan, but she melted his heart in no time! We love her and she's so much fun! I'll post pictures soon

Happy Birthday to Me!

Yaaayy! I'm not a teenager anymore! Last week was my 20th birthday, and Chris and I went home for the weekend. It was so fun! We stayed at the Condie's, and I woke up to DELICIOUS waffles and strawberries (Thanks so much Linda!). All of Steff and Andi's kids made me an awesome birthday card. Tom and Linda gave me this neat little food storage starter kit which will come in so handy when we can start building that up, Steff made me some adorable cloth table napkins to match our kitchen perfectly, Chris gave me my newest favorite movie (P.S. I love you, we watched in on our honeymoon) and this crazy little wire head scratcher that feels SO good! It's like candy for the scalp! Best of all, Chris VOLUNTARILY went shopping with me!!!! I love the clothes, but the best part is just that he came with me! It was so fun!
Later that night, we went over to my parents house for a birthday/Mother's Day celebration. We gave mom our mother's day present, and Dad gave her the presents he got for her (he really did pick some great things!) Mom and Dad gave me a......(drum role please.......) SEWING MACHINE!!!! WOOHOOOO! This is so exciting! I have a hard time finding skirts long enough, now...not a problem! Home decorations are expensive to buy, not anymore! Pajama pants that are never long enough....never again!!!! There are a ton of fun projects I can finally get started on!

Over all, it was a wonderful birthday! Thank you so much everyone for making it such a great day!

Do I have the sweetest husband or what!

Sunday night we had friends over for dinner, and the kitchen was a disaster! Monday was my first day of work, I came home to this little note on the door (which brightened my day!) and then (drum roll please....) a CLEAN KITCHEN!!! Oh I was so excited! The icecream was delicious by the way!

To understand how fun this next little note was, I gotta tell you a little history. When we were dating, I worked evenings till 10:00, and once or twice a week I had to work a double from 6am to 10pm. Poor Chris had 2 jobs and had to work from 6am to 11pm almost every day! Needless to say, we were crazy about each other but didn't have a ton of free time to go out. So how did we manage? We would either leave a note for eachother on the car window, or surprise eachother by waiting at the car till the other got off of work for a quick "catch up" on our day.

So when I got off work Tuesday night, and this was on my windshield I was SO excited! What a cutie!

Oh Go Fly A Kite!

So last Friday, it was Chris's turn to plan a date, and he had the BRILLIANT idea of flying kites!! It was so much fun! Chris got Spiderman, and I got the princesses.

Chris's kite had some more problems... He was running around the field after his kite the whole time

My kite still flying high
That's me flying both kites...pure talent!
It was a fun date, and a perfect idea for such a windy day!

Working News

Big news everyone...I got a job!!!! WOOHOOOOO! As some of you might know I couldn't find a job last semester because this is Rexburg (town of 15,000 people, 13,500 of them job-seeking students) and jobs are hard to come by in the middle of a semester. Anyways, this last week I was applying for every job I could think of, and there's a small music store here and I thought, "Perfect! Of course they'll wanna hire me!" Well, they didn't hire me, but the guy that was working there said that they were hiring at his other job, Lexington Law. I went in there and applied on Thursday, and was told to come back on Friday for a group interview. Needless to say, I was amazing in the interview! I was so excited by how well I did I came home and re-enacted the whole thing for Chris! So, because of my "mad interview skills" :) I got a call a couple hours later with a job offer!!! Yay!!

So, what exactly is my job, you ask? To be honest, I don't really know yet! I'll be working in customer service where I'll be talking to people and helping them with a program to get out of debt. I'll basically be working as a paralegal. That's really all I know so far until I start on Monday! It's actually a really good job for around here. it's 8 dollars plus commission, GREAT benefits, tuition reimbursement, paid vacation after 90 days, and super flexible hours. Woohoo!

Now, for Chris's BIG news!!!! Chris got a new, bigger, better, shinier job too!!! Chris works for Coca Cola right now, and his job is to go to all the stores and set up displays and make sure all the product is out and looks nice. Well, it's a surprisingly stressful job, and they are always on his case about working more hours, when he's already working 35-40 a week and also being a full-time student. Summer is coming up which is the big season for Coke, and we've been worried about how Chris is going to handle even more work on top of school. Well, our prayers were answered! Chris and his co-worker Jake became friends with Adam, who is in charge of all the Little Debbie distribution. This poor guy easily works 75 hours a week on a regular basis. Anyways, he really likes Jake and Chris so he offered them a job working for him! It's by far a better option for Chris for lots of reasons. Chris gets a 1.50 raise, he doesn't have to drive his own car to all the surrounding towns anymore, he was promised he wouldn't have to work so many hours during school, and to top it off, Adam offered to buy them golf passes each year! It doesn't offer any insurance, but with my new job (amazing benefits) he can be on mine.

So good news from up here in Rexburg! Thanks everyone for your prayers, because they were definately answered. We really needed these jobs and it worked out perfectly!

Happy Birthday Chris!

Today is Chris's 23rd Birthday!!!! Hooray!!
I guess the day we celebrate his birth is the perfect opportunity to tell him why I love him so much and why I'm so glad that...well...he was born!

One of the things I love about Chris is how willing he is to go along with all my half-cocked ideas. i can be kinda silly, and he's always right beside me being even sillier! We always have fun because he is such a fun personality. He gives energy to everyone around him and you can't help but love him!

This is a picture of Chris at 1 in the morning doing homework after a loooong day at work and class. Another reason I'm so grateful for Chris is for how hard he works! I know I can always depend on him, and he is doing so well in his job and in his classes. He's such a trooper!

I am so grateful for Chris! He's such an incredible person that everyone loves. He's brilliant, he's hilarious, he's sweet, and he's all mine! :D (yay for me!) I hope you have such a wonderful birthday babe! We all love you so much!!!!!!!
