Big news everyone...I got a job!!!! WOOHOOOOO! As some of you might know I couldn't find a job last semester because this is Rexburg (town of 15,000 people, 13,500 of them job-seeking students) and jobs are hard to come by in the middle of a semester. Anyways, this last week I was applying for every job I could think of, and there's a small music store here and I thought, "Perfect! Of course they'll wanna hire me!" Well, they didn't hire me, but the guy that was working there said that they were hiring at his other job, Lexington Law. I went in there and applied on Thursday, and was told to come back on Friday for a group interview. Needless to say, I was amazing in the interview! I was so excited by how well I did I came home and re-enacted the whole thing for Chris! So, because of my "mad interview skills" :) I got a call a couple hours later with a job offer!!! Yay!!
So, what exactly is my job, you ask? To be honest, I don't really know yet! I'll be working in customer service where I'll be talking to people and helping them with a program to get out of debt. I'll basically be working as a paralegal. That's really all I know so far until I start on Monday! It's actually a really good job for around here. it's 8 dollars plus commission, GREAT benefits, tuition reimbursement, paid vacation after 90 days, and super flexible hours. Woohoo!
Now, for Chris's BIG news!!!! Chris got a new, bigger, better, shinier job too!!! Chris works for Coca Cola right now, and his job is to go to all the stores and set up displays and make sure all the product is out and looks nice. Well, it's a surprisingly stressful job, and they are always on his case about working more hours, when he's already working 35-40 a week and also being a full-time student. Summer is coming up which is the big season for Coke, and we've been worried about how Chris is going to handle even more work on top of school. Well, our prayers were answered! Chris and his co-worker Jake became friends with Adam, who is in charge of all the Little Debbie distribution. This poor guy easily works 75 hours a week on a regular basis. Anyways, he really likes Jake and Chris so he offered them a job working for him! It's by far a better option for Chris for lots of reasons. Chris gets a 1.50 raise, he doesn't have to drive his own car to all the surrounding towns anymore, he was promised he wouldn't have to work so many hours during school, and to top it off, Adam offered to buy them golf passes each year! It doesn't offer any insurance, but with my new job (amazing benefits) he can be on mine.
So good news from up here in Rexburg! Thanks everyone for your prayers, because they were definately answered. We really needed these jobs and it worked out perfectly!
